History & Military Use
The PASGT helmet entered US military service in 1983, replacing the M1 steel pot that had served since World War II. Constructed from Kevlar ballistic fiber, the PASGT offered significantly improved fragmentation and ballistic protection. It became the standard-issue helmet for all branches of the US military through the 1980s and 1990s, seeing heavy use in Grenada, Panama, the Gulf War, Somalia, and the early stages of the Global War on Terror before being replaced by the ACH. The bare-shell variant — without a fabric cover — provides a clean base for weathering, custom paint schemes, and unit-specific markings.
3D printed products may require minor post-processing. Support remnants, layer lines, or slight surface variations are normal and can be cleaned up with a hobby knife, needle files, or light sanding. Final appearance may vary slightly depending on printer settings and material used.
