History & Military Use
The M26 fragmentation grenade was developed in the early 1950s to replace the egg-shaped Mk. 2 "Pineapple" grenade of WWII fame. Its distinctive "lemon" shape and coiled steel fragmentation liner produced a more consistent and lethal fragment pattern than the segmented cast iron body of the Mk. 2. The M26 became the standard US Army frag grenade during the Korean War and throughout much of the Vietnam War, issued to soldiers across every branch of service. It was eventually succeeded by the M67 in the 1960s, though M26 variants remained in use with various forces for decades. The M26 is also notable as the basis for the M61 and M26A1 variants and the XM33 multi-use HEDP round.
3D printed products may require minor post-processing. Support remnants, layer lines, or slight surface variations are normal and can be cleaned up with a hobby knife, needle files, or light sanding. Final appearance may vary slightly depending on printer settings and material used.
