History & Military Use

The XM-1177 HMG is a fictional heavy machine gun design inspired by the tradition of experimental US military weapons programs bearing the "XM" (Experimental Model) designation. The real-world XM series has produced some of the most iconic American weapons — from the XM16E1 (the precursor to the M16) to the XM307 Advanced Crew Served Weapon program.
