History & Military Use

The CheyTac M200 Intervention was developed in the early 2000s by CheyTac Associates as a long-range precision rifle system chambered in the proprietary .408 CheyTac and .375 CheyTac cartridges. Designed to engage targets beyond 2,000 meters, the M200 was part of the Long Range Rifle System (LRRS) package that included a ballistic computer and environmental sensor suite. It attracted significant attention from US Special Operations Command and was evaluated by multiple military and law enforcement agencies worldwide. The M200 gained cultural notoriety as the weapon featured prominently in the 2007 action film Shooter, cementing its reputation as a symbol of extreme long-range precision shooting.
