History & Use

The Altyn (meaning "gold" in Kazakh) is a Soviet-era titanium combat helmet developed in the 1980s for elite Spetsnaz and Alpha Group special forces, featuring a distinctive integrated visor system for ballistic and fragment protection. Widely used during the Soviet-Afghan War and Chechen conflicts, the Altyn became one of the most recognizable pieces of Soviet and Russian special forces headgear, appearing in countless Cold War-era operations and hostage rescue missions. An essential accessory for Spetsnaz, Soviet special forces, or any modern Russian operator custom build.
