History & Military Use

The Heckler & Koch G36 is a 5.56×45mm NATO assault rifle designed in the early 1990s and adopted by the German Bundeswehr in 1995 as the standard service rifle, replacing the G3. The KA4 (Kurz Ausführung 4 — Short Version 4) is the ultra-compact carbine variant of the G36 family, featuring a drastically shortened barrel optimized for vehicle crews, special operations personnel, and close-quarters combat. The G36 family has been adopted by Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, and numerous other nations, and has seen combat in Afghanistan, Iraq, and counter-terrorism operations worldwide. It is also notable for its modular design, allowing barrel, optic, and stock changes in the field.
