Backstory / History

The Vatican doesn't officially acknowledge his unit. Neither does any government agency, and that's exactly how Father Vicari prefers it. A former special operations veteran who traded his rifle for a Roman collar — and then picked the rifle back up — he operates under a special dispensation granted by a department of the Holy See that most Cardinals pretend doesn't exist. His mission: the things that conventional hunters won't touch, the cases where the creatures aren't after flesh but after souls. Crucifix, consecrated ammunition, and a suppressed .45 on his hip, he has performed more exorcisms at gunpoint than anyone alive — and he's buried the things that made other hunters run. The suits look the other way. The hunters send him referrals. Whatever lives in the dark knows his name, and it doesn't like it.
