History & Military Use

The 2-quart ALICE canteen was issued alongside the standard 1-quart canteen for operations in hot climates, extended field exercises, or missions where resupply was limited. Its larger collapsible body and shoulder strap made it suitable for carrying additional water on the move. Used extensively in desert environments during the Gulf War and throughout Central America and the Middle East, the 2-quart canteen is a distinctive piece of period-correct kit for any late Cold War through early GWOT US military build.
